Open Water Scuba Certification

Now is the time for you to dive into the PADI Open Water Diver course and begin your world of exploration underwater! Whether you want to dive with colorful fish, whale sharks, manatees, or manta rays, as a PADI Open Water Diver you have the freedom to dive with a buddy anywhere in the world! You also may be able to earn college credits by taking this course.

What qualifications do I need to start? Virtually anyone who is in good health, reasonably fit, and comfortable in the water can earn a PADI Open Water Diver certification. If you are between 10 and 14 or have a child between these ages, there is a PADI Junior Open Water Diver program available as well.

• A PADI Jr Open Water Diver between the ages of 10 and 11 years may only dive with a PADI Professional, a certified parent or certified guardian to a maximum depth of 40 ft (12m).
• A PADI Jr Open Water Diver between the ages of 12 and 14 years must dive with an Adult Certified Diver as there dive   buddy and is held to the same limitations as any PADI Open Water Diver for a maximum depth of 60 ft (18m).

What will I do? Throughout the course, you’ll learn the fundamentals of scuba diving, including using dive equipment, safety protocols and techniques.   You earn this rating by completing five pool dives (confined water) and knowledge development sessions and by making four open water (ocean, spring or lake) dives. Typically, we make all of our open water checkout in the Atlantic Ocean or Gulf of Mexico around Key West. You could also choose to upgrade your dive experience by making your open water check out dives in the West Palm Beach area off of a boat or from the beach (such as at Blue Heron Bridge) or we could make the trip to Williston, FL to do Blue Grotto & Devil's Den Springs. Always open to more adventurous locations as well such as Roatan, Honduras or Bali as well!!

How long will it take? PADI programs are performance based. You proceed as you demonstrate mastery of the course skills. This allows you to work at a pace that is comfortable for you. Vantage Point Diving has a variety of schedules to meet most individuals’ needs. Open Water classes typically range from a three day weekend to as much as three weeks where we may do an evening session twice a week to prepare for the open water checkout dives. We offer private courses for those who want a more personal experience in learning to dive. We are flexible and will work with you no matter your schedule. We also try to limit the number of students   we teach in a class to 4-6 students max to provide you with the best learning environment possible. If you have a large family (more than 6), we can work with you to get you all trained and diving as a group.
